Cathy Kelly Photography
Nature. landscape. portraiture.
Portrait and landscape photographer Cathy Kelly’s life and work have taken her around the world, photographing intimate scenes and inspiring vistas across Europe and the United States as well as China, Russia, New Zealand. Time spent exploring national parks, small towns, and less traveled locations has offered Cathy a broad and well informed understanding of the power of nature and the beauty of those moments in which it exists in unadulterated purity. She brings these moments to her clientele though a series of mountain scenes, seascapes, explorations of plants and flowers, bucolic country pastures and fields of lavender.
Cathy has recently developed a series of infrared landscapes that present the viewer with engaging landscapes unseen by the naked eye. Her travels have also brought opportunities to photograph wildlife, capturing the drama of bald eagles, the delicacy of egrets, and alligators, bears, bison foraging in their habitats.
A new body of nature based abstracts rounds out her work, bringing a unique energy and sense of design to the project.
As a portrait photographer Cathy has a talent for putting her subjects at ease, capturing honest authentic images of families, high school seniors, creatives, and entrepreneurs. A Phi Beta Kappa scholar, she is dedicated to learning and helping others. For more than 10 years Cathy has created portraits for cancer patients at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children.
Cathy’s award winning photographs have been exhibited in Pittsburgh and Naples, Florida, and published in magazines and newspapers, including the New York Times. Select images from her travel, nature, infrared, abstract, and wildlife series are available for individual clients, interior design, and corporate spaces.
